The Intermediate Guide for Elfs
Guiding new elfs or those with sec char
Author: UbeRno0b class: elf subclass: all Type: general Difficulty: all
Average rating: 4.8/10 Total Votes: 4
Well I've been browsing this forum for a few months, kudos to the pple who wrote some of this guides. They helped me off in my starting days
The guide is meant for those who have at least a basic knowledge of the gameplay of MU.. i.e the towns, the weapons, where to go...and (to me at least) the fastest way to gain lvls for starting elfs. Feel free to post constructive critism and share insights
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chapter 1: Lvl 1-2
Starting off in Noria, if u are a naked elf, first char, no zen or equip in your vault just step out and start lvling on goblins, avoid chain scorpions if possible thier dmg is quite nasty if u dont down apples =)
This will be for your first two lvls, the 10 points will be for 5 str and 5 agi. Why?
Its time for a weapon change. Namely the Kris. Its light, sexy and oh so much more dmg than the cheap bow =p. Now if u have a sec char, preferably more lvled up (10 and above) switch chars and go to Lorencia.
There visit Hans the Blacksmith and buy his kris. put it in ur vault, and switch back to your starter elf, withdraw ur kris and there u go =p
Chapter 2: Lvl 3-9
Just continue to battle chain scorpions and goblins. U may be tempted to try out beetles, but without superior armour, its risky. Ideally your defense should be around 70 before u attempt tackling the beetles.
Chapter 3: Lvl 10-15
Now you probably wearing a nice set of vine+3/+4 hopefully. Don't worry about getting those with opts, your defense should be sufficient enough to hold out. As you progress, add points according to your needs, although your agility should be higher than your strength.
Resist the urge to pump unneccesary points into str, just enough to wear your equipement. By now u should be weilding a nice kris+3/+4, try to buy from people, (price ranges from 5-12K) and a good sheild. For weapon upgrades, unless it offers a significant dmg boost i.e 8-15 dmg more, stick to your kris.
Why? Kris has the fastest base attacking speed of 50 of all weapons, which means u hit pretty darn fast. Coupled with your high agility, u hit faster and very accurately.
Compared scenarios:
kris+3 (15-20 dmg)
short sword+5 (18-22 dmg)
Now,the short sword+5 may deal more dmg slightly, but with attacking speed of 20, the kris+3 still comes out ahead with attack speed 50, which makes up for the reduced dmg with faster hits.
On to the monsters, stock up on small healing potions, (u should have a decent money stash) and head for the beetles. Avoid areas where hunters are lurking, hunt for a mainly beetle spot with some chain scorpions, will be the best place.
Now simply level on the beetles, avoid getting them into a swarm if possible , but if u do, thats what e potions are for , don't use apples, cos the health gain is too slow, u probably die in that few secs it takes to gain health.
The golden rule for levelling is to kill monsters relatively fast (7-13 hits) i.e efficient
You may be tempted for hunters, but their higher xp gain gives u a illusion of fast lvling when instead you are slower as hunters at this stage takes too long.
Note: For those with good equip..Once you get to the point where your defense is 90-100+ hunters and their ilk will deal you a min of 1 dmg, so feel free to lvl on them if u wish.
Chapter 4: 15 -20
At this point, aim for a full set of vine+3/+4 equipment, giving u a defense of high 90s comfortably. Try to buy it for reasonable prices, (7-10K for vine+4 a piece) At this point u have two options, continue soloing at noria on hunters mobs, or go to Davias and party high levels for leeching of xp
Things to note, your weapon should be probably a kris+3/+4 and the weapon will remain static, as simply its the best weapon available for our class. if u find another weapon with substantially more dmg, chances are it needs a lot more str which will pull u down later in the game.
Summary: stick to your kris u'll change weapons soon enough..
For partying at Davias, just holler lvl xx elf looking for party, hook up and stick close to your leader =). just keep running around and pick up the gold...avoid getting mobbed by the monsters, they can kill u easily in 2 hits.
If u choose to solo, the rate of xp gain is similar, for early lvls 15-20 aim for mobs of hunters and beetles, and keep up a constant killing pace, this stage allow u to lvl very fast, probably a lvl every 40 mins if u hunt actively.
Now as you approach lvls 19-20, lvling becomes slower, at this point hunters are blah, but forest monsters and agons deal too much dmg to take them on efficiently. Just plod on with hunters and bare with it
NOTE: In my opinion, u may be tempted to add your 5 points each lvl to str to increase the dmg u are using, try not to, your target is to aim for approx 40+ str and 80+ agi at this stage, with agility target being more vital.
Now your energy will be rather low, so my advice is to pump agility to reach at least 75 preferrably 80+, and dump the rest in energy, u'll need it later at mid 25s onwards for using skilled bows and buffs.
Chapter 5: 21-25
Ahh time for a weapon upgrade, the elven axe does decent dmg of mid 30s to 40s attack speed of 40. As its name states its meant for elfs, and with an elven shield equipped(more on it later) your dmg and def rating will get a much needed boost.
Now where to get the elven axe and shield? don't sweat they are NPC items at the weapons merchant in Davias. Relatively inexpensive, they do need rather high agi, so aim for the required stats.
kk tired fingers =P will continue later.... |
