Guide to Dark Wizard/Soul Master

Firstly I would like to introduce myself, I was a lvl100+ agility elf before I was hacked into oblivion (for the 3rd time I was hacked). I'm now a proud owner of a shared account in muchina (still awaiting for the 0.98 upgrade )
Why Should you choose to become a Dark Wizard?
At the moment I would say Dark Knight or Elves are both easier as starting classes. However, the main attraction of a Dark Wizard is it's shear playability - which requires a large amount of coordinated control.
In the earlier stages being a Dark Wizard is difficult. Why?
There are numerous reasons:
1. LAG! Something which is undeniable
2. Low HP of Dark Wizard, absolute suicide with satan and monsters pecking your HP away
3. Slow levelling, require a frequent dosage of both red and blue potions. Weak Defense
4. Hard to manipulate!
However, when getting the grasp of it:
1. Easy to level (Evil Spirit, auto-exp, Blast  )
2. Powerful attack (only to be rivalled by high Strength/hight energy MG)
3. Fun to play
4. Can literally solo anything with close range attack with poison
Enough crap, the guide begins!

Spells:-

1. Energy ball - Well, USE RIGHT CLICK!!
2. Fireball - Basically an upgrade on Energy Ball, OK for the first 10 level
3. Powerwave - Another stronger upgrade on Energy Ball, should be used until Meteorite is available.
4. Lightning Spell - Useless spell, and I mean useless - Pretty mana consuming and only slightly more powerful than powerwave, it's only value is when used in PK in conjunction with Teleport (One of the better combo in PK)
5. Teleport - Useful spell, finding yourself low on HP and can't survive another assault? Just Teleport and use potion while you're taking the break! Essential PK spell for everyday PK.
6. Meteorite - Probably one of the most used spell for Dark Wizards, good Power/Mana consumption ratio.
7. Ice - Pretty useless as most monsters are almost-immune to icing effect, a good move in PK though
8. Poison - A useless spell that's useful - refer to below
9. Flame - Should be THE spell until Blast is available, basically doing 3 consecutive attack in 1 strike, each with similar damage to meteorite. This is why DW's attack is always above DK/ELF - Perfect against ranged enemies
10. Tornado - At first sight, useless. In reality, ONE of the best spell you can use.
In monster dense areas it's value is ranking equal to that of Evil Spirit. Blood-Castle is where this spell shines.
11. Evil Spirit - This is the BABE! Low hit rate, but when the number of enemy in its striking distance is high enough (5+) This spell is unrivalled! The most used spell for any full time Dark Wizard.
12. Hell Fire - Cool spell, that's it - cool. In practise this spell is not good at all, Slow, 1 hit only - I suppose there are some values when many monsters are within its strike distance.
13. Aqua-Flash - Possibly the worst spell. 1 hit only (sometimes 2 hit) Slow attack speed (equivalent to that of hell fire.) Goes in a straight line but limited spread.
14. Blast - This is the ULTIMATE Anti-Boss spell, against tough monsters everyone uses it. Can be described as a Flame with 2X damage. Requires alot of mana but it's possible the quickest way to kill any monster.
15. Inferno - Faster version of Hell-Fire, nice spell when enemy population is dense. Powerful but consumes alot of mana. I still prefer evil spirit over this.
16. Famin? - UNKNOWN
17. ? - UNKNOWN
18. Hell Blast - UNKNOWN
19. Energy Barrier - Have similar effect as angel. A buffing technique similar to elves advanced defense.
20. Mass Teleport - Teleport any party friend right next to you.

Staffs:-
Skull Staff: Beginner Staff - Very nice for those pad wearers. Go for ones with +12 option
Angel Staff: First 2 handed staff - Again go for ones with +12 option
Serpent Staff: no comment
Staff of Gorgon: An underrated staff, 5 extra speed gain over Legendary Staff, 2-handed & ugly (Reason why people hates it.) However, this is a good staff in my opinion although I do prefer the Legendary Staff over this.
Legendary Staff: This is the babe, doesn't require any agility - good to go in conjunction with Skull Shield. Arguably the best staff for any unwinged Dark Wizard.
Resurrection Staff: The best 1 handed staff for Dark Wizards (not soul master.)
77% wizardry increase at +11. Pretty good if you can't afford a chaos lightning staff.
Chaos Lightning Staff: The most underrated chaos item currently in MU global, so pick one up (particularly ones with luck) before the prices go up! The ULTIMATE staff before you get your hand on the Grand Soul Set.
Staff of Destruction: This staff seemed to aimed for those energy Magic Gladiator. All those who aimed for the Grand Soul Set should go for Dragon Soul Staff
Dragon Soul Staff: Arguably the best 1 handed staff (disregardng excellent). Identical Stats as the Chaos Lightning Staff but one handed.

Recommended spells for normal usage:
Meteor, Flame, tornado, evil spirit, blast, Energy Barrier, Inferno

Recommended Staff for normal usage:
< lvl 50: Skull Staff, Angelic Staff
~lvl 100: Legendary Staff, Staff of Gorgon
~lvl 180: Excellent Staffs (Gorgon OR Legendary), Chaos Lightning Staff, Resurrection Staff
Note: Aim for Excellent DMG rating/+7 Speed for Excellent Staff,
Hints:-
1. Don't go on a saving with potions - they are there for you to use!
2. Do not mistaken yourself with Rambo, and you aint. Always have a finger on the Q button.
3. The USE of Poison - It's effective against strong monsters with high HP. You can kill anything (as long you can survive) with poison even if you do minimal damage to it. Low level Dark Wizard in china love to go deeper in atlans, and use poison to slay Giant Bahamuts. I managed to kill a golden goblin once using teleport + poison (Note: I was full energy, no defense and only carrying a short sword)
4. Dark Wizard is not a solo character - Don't even think about going to tarkan until you have at least a full +11 legendary set.
Good PK combo for Dark Wizard:
Teleport + Lightning in Mid-Air
Teleport + Meteorite in Mid-Air
Teleport + Ice switch to meteorite in Mid-Air

Guide to levelling:
On a fine server, all energy at first is a good option.
On MU Global, it's better to go for defense first then energy - It's the lag that kills you.
- Get enough strength to wear a good padset (+3/+4+12) and a good skull staff (+3/+4+12)
- Pump energy until hellfire is usuable
- Raise strength for good legendary staff + skull staff and a decent sphinx/legendary defense set. DO NOT AIM for legendary Shield
- Continue to pump energy until you reach ~ lvl 170ish
- Pump strength and agility to prepare for High level staff: Chaos Lightning Staff or Resurrection Staff. Consider getting defense set to +11/+12/+13 / +12/+16.
- When ready (although not necessary) Prepare yourself a decent soul set |
